Calgary plant records incident-free year
(Aug. 31, 2009) CALGARY, Alberta – Champion Technologies’ Calgary manufacturing plant
marked 12 months with zero recordable incidents and accidents. That
performance accounts for nearly 6,000 working hours and a staff of 36 people.
Over the past 12 months, the plant underwent significant expansion,
adding 17 new tanks and implementing an automation initiative. The plant’s rolling
36-month TRIR also is the lowest in 30 months.
Champion’s global Total Recordable Incident Rate (TRIR) ended 2008 at 1.30.
The TRIR is a measure of the number of recordable safety incidents based on
hours worked by employees and supervised contractors.
